DIY: Inspiration Board

Last night at midnight, I had a sudden burst of creativity that started out with doodling one quote and ended with filling up a bulletin board with my favorite inspirational quotes. I'm really happy about the way it turned out - apparently I do my best work late at night. Inspiration boards have been a popular trend lately but I've never quite known where to begin. There are several quotes that I keep saved in my phone because they motivate and inspire me when I'm in a difficult situation. I realized that these quotes are what I wanted on my inspiration board so that I could see them everyday in my room. I have this really awesome bulletin board from Pottery Barn Teen and I just wrote my favorite quotes (details below) on pieces of white paper that I had in my room with different colored markers and pens and then cut them down to size because I always like for writing to fill up the entire space. I really like how the different colors and different sizes turned out and this is a project that can be personalized so nicely. I'm so excited to share the picture with you guys!

My favorite quotes are mostly from Disney movies (as you can see) but I've also found some on Twitter and Pinterest that really stuck with me. And yes, if you're wondering, "fearless" is a Taylor Swift reference. Here's a list of the quotes I used:

1. "Dress how you want to be addressed." -- from Pinterest

2. "Throw kindness around like confetti." -- also from Pinterest

3. "If you don't go after what you want, you'll never have it. If you don't ask, the answer is always no. If you don't step forward, you are always in the same place." -- I found this quote on Twitter years ago and it's been my life motto ever since. I look at it all the time for motivation. My best friend and I also send it to each other when we're in a tough situation and need reminding.

4. "If your heart is in your dream, no request is too extreme." -- Jiminy Cricket from Pinocchio. This is always a great reminder that if you really want something, you can work for it and make it happen.

5. "Good things are going to happen." -- I saw this quote on Twitter and it is what started this project because I thought it was really cute and wanted to have it in my room. Such a great reminder for rainy days.

6. "Second star to the right and straight on til morning." -- Peter Pan. I just really love this because I love Peter Pan and it makes me happy to think about the movie.

7. "It's up to you how far you go, if you don't try you'll never know." -- The Sword in the Stone. This is very motivational for me because it reminds me that my success is determined by me and everything is worth a shot. I would rather try & fail than always wonder what might have been.

8. "Adventure is out there." -- Up. Up is one of my favorite movies so I wanted to incorporate it and this quote is one of everyone's favorites because sometimes we need to remember that adventures are close by, you just have to go for it.

9. "Have courage and be kind." -- Cinderella. I know this quote is super popular right now because Cinderella recently came out but I really love it. These are two things I struggle with and seeing how they helped Cinderella in the movie motivates me to try harder to be a brave and caring person.

10. "Fearless." -- Taylor Swift. I actually chose to include this word because I have a list of adjectives that describe Disney princesses and I felt like this word rounded out the whole project, but Fearless is my favorite Taylor Swift album and it has tons of inspiration itself so it's a secret reminder when I look at this word.
