4 Parks in 48 Hours

Tuesday, June 20, 2017

You may remember this video about my family's trip to Disney World in December, but we were back again June 9-11 to explore Pandora, the world of Avatar. We got hopper passes so we were able to visit two parks each day for the two days we were there and got to experience all of our favorite things.

Our trip was amazing and Pandora definitely did not disappoint. Flight of Passage meets all of the hype it has been getting and exceeded my expectations. It's been compared to Soarin' and while I don't disagree, I think it's next level - like nothing you've ever experienced before.

We spent the morning of our first day in Magic Kingdom. My absolute favorite ride at Disney is the peoplemover so that was one of our first stops. We had fast passes for Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin, Space Mountain, and Pirates of the Caribbean - some of our favorite rides.

We had lunch at Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn & Cafe. I like to get the fajita platter there and basically make a burrito bowl at the toppings bar. Of course we got a Dole Whip as well - when at the Enchanted Tiki Room do as the parrots do, am I right?

Mid-afternoon, we went over to Hollywood Studios where we visited my one and only, Kylo Ren. While at the Star Wars Launch Bay, we also stopped in to speak with Chewie. We rode some of our favorite rides: The Tower of Terror, Star Tours, and Toy Story Midway Mania. We also rode one of my least favorites, The Great Movie Ride. Y'all, I cannot stand the alien part.

We went to The Music of Pixar Live, a new symphony show that features live music from movies like Up, Toy Story, and Monsters Inc. and also maybe some surprise visits from the characters of these movies.

The highlight of our night was eating at Hollywood and Vine for Minnie's Summertime Dine. We had a buffet with really good food and frequent visits from Minnie, Mickey, Donald, Daisy, and Goofy while we ate. We got one of the last reservation times so it wasn't very crowded and we had a great time and fun interactions with the characters.

Our second day in the parks started at EPCOT where we immediately rode some of the most popular rides - Test Track and Soarin'. While in The Land pavilion, we also rode my second favorite ride at Disney, Living with the Land. I love seeing all the different plants being grown that will be used in some of the restaurants in the parks.

We took photos with Mickey and Goofy at the Disney Visa Cardholder meet + greet and then went to our lunch reservation at the Coral Reef restaurant. The food was amazing and we were lucky enough to be seated right beside the aquarium and it was so much fun watching all the fish, sharks, turtle, and stingray swimming around while we ate lunch. We even saw a diving group go into the tank.

After lunch, we went over to Animal Kingdom and headed straight to Pandora. We got in line for Flight of Passage right away because we didn't have a fast pass for that. The wait was pretty long, but definitely worth it. My brother got a Night Blossom drink - he liked it, but it was not my favorite.

We went over to Kilimanjaro Safari while we waited for our fast pass time for Na'vi River Journey. The river journey is a peaceful boat ride through the scenery of Pandora. It's really pretty with a lot of fun colors and lights. Not nearly as exciting as Flight of Passage, but definitely a good experience.

The actual land of Pandora is really well-done, the floating mountains are cool and walking around truly does feel like you're exploring Pandora. Don't forget to visit Pandora at night to see the bioluminescence all around.

Thanks to Pandora, there were short wait times for most other activities in the park so we rode Expedition Everest three times in a row. It's my favorite roller coaster in the parks and it's always a treat to get the first row seats.

Just outside of Everest, my mom and I were sitting on a rock while my dad and brother rode the Kali River Rapids and an armadillo came trotting across the path and into some bushes beside us. It was so strange but exciting for me - I had never really seen an armadillo before.

Before we left the park for the night, we watched Rivers of Light, the new nighttime show at Animal Kingdom. It takes place on the water and incorporates floats, projections, and music for a show about animals and nature. It was interesting, but it's no Fantasmic.

That's a wrap for our two days in the Walt Disney World parks. We had a lot of fun, ate a lot of good food, and had a great first time in Pandora. If you have any questions about any of our experiences or recommendations, let me know in the comments or feel free to email me!
