Fall Letter Board + Light Box Inspiration

by - Tuesday, October 01, 2019

It's fall y'all! I'm so excited about all things fall and, of course, all things Hocus Pocus. I wanted to share a few ideas for your letter board and light box to incorporate into your fall decor and, yes, there are several that have Hocus Pocus themes. I know my holiday letter board and light box ideas post was very well-received, particularly one of my letter board Grinch quotes, so I hope you all will enjoy this post as well!

The Hocus Pocus / Halloween - Old Town Road quote in the photo above is something that I came up with, so feel free to decorate with it, but please don't claim it as your own! If you're sharing photos, give credit where credit is due.

Long Letter Board Quotes

"Unfaithful lover long since dead
deep asleep in thy wormy bed.
Wiggle thy toes, open thine eyes.
Twist thy fingers toward the sky.
Life is sweet, be not shy,
on thy feet, so sayeth I!"

- Winifred Sanderson, Hocus Pocus

"Come little children,
I'll take thee away,
into the land of enchantment.
Come little children,
the time's come to play,
here in my garden of magic."

- Sarah Sanderson, Hocus Pocus

"One final thing and all is done.
Add a piece of thine own tongue."

- Life Potion, Hocus Pocus

"Life starts all over again
when it gets crisp in the fall."

- F. Scott Fitzgerald

"When black cats prowl
and pumpkins gleam,
may luck be yours on Halloween."

Pro Tips!

Letter Boards

  • Look for fun little decorations and phrases in packs {like my ghost, pumpkin, and orange Halloween} after holidays when they're on major discount at Hobby Lobby, Target, and other craft stores. Start building your collection on the cheap! They don't have to be any particular brand either — you can make pretty much anything work with what you have.
  • Speaking of your collection, I use plastic boxes with multiple divided spots {think jewelry organizer} to organize and store my letters and accessories!

Light Boxes

  • Light boxes can really let you down with the amount of letter duplicates. If you see a lightbox on sale, pick it up so you'll have a spare, but most importantly, double the letters! Definitely recommend looking for a different style of box {I have a traditional one and a heart-shaped one!} so you have a good reason for owning two!
  • If you really, really want a custom image for your light box, you can actually make the inserts! There are tutorials all over Pinterest and while this task is probably for the ultra crafty, it might be worthwhile if you're decorating for a very important event and want a unique touch!
