Spring Bird's Nests | Sweet Treats

My favorite Easter food that my mom and aunt have made every year for as long as I can remember are these bird's nests complete with delicious chocolate eggs. Every year, we all look forward to these festive sweet treats that are not only cute, but so yummy! When I posted a photo with my nests on Instagram last year, I got a lot of very interested comments so I knew I had to type a blog post with the recipe this year.

What I did not know at that time, however, was that we would be social distancing, making it impossible to just run to the store whenever you need something and leaving many grocery shelves empty. So I'm posting this a little later than I had anticipated, but still thought it was so important to share for years to come! And if you haven't made your Easter meal ingredients run yet, here are a few extra items to add to your list...


Ingredients

2 cups of chow mein noodles

1 cup butterscotch chips

1/4 cup peanut butter

Chocolate eggs of your choice - we used Cadbury mini eggs, peanut m&ms, and Hershey's candy coated eggs {my personal favorite!}

Peeps {the traditional birds}


Directions

1.  Melt peanut butter and butterscotch chips completely

2. Stir chow mein noodles into the melted mixture



3. On a strip of wax paper, use two spoons to create small nests with with your noodle + mixture combo - we like smaller nests for quick snacking, but larger nests work better if you're adding Peeps

4. Top your nests with eggs and / or Peeps pretty quickly before they start to set


5. Let your completed nests set for a few hours to harden; you could also place them in the refrigerator

6. Enjoy!
